Koorie Engagement Support Officers (KESO)
Koorie Engagement Support Officers are responsible for the implementation of the Wannik Education Strategy. KESOs are responsible for facilitating and managing the delivery of programs for Koorie children and young people through early childhood to school completion. They work with families to support a child’s access to and participation in early childhood services and school.
DEECD funding to Kindergartens
DEECD provides a full-fee subsidy for Aboriginal children to ensure they have access to a funded kindergarten program planned and delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher in the year before they attend school.
Early Start Kindergarten (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children)
Three-year-old kindergarten provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children with an opportunity to access up to 10 hours a week of a funded early childhood program that is planned and delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher.
Djillay Lidj Aboriginal Best Start
This program explores ways of bringing together parents, Elders, health, education and community services and local government to better meet the needs of young Aboriginal children.
