NEW DATE! GPs working in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF): New medical, allied health and mental health services

The Australian Government Department of Health has introduced the Allied Health in Residential Aged Care Facilities – COVID Allied Health Package.  This program is a temporary measure aimed at improving physical functioning of RACF residents who are at risk of deconditioning due to the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020.  Funding is available for therapy sessions, and in December 2020 temporary MBS items were made available to improve access to multidisciplinary care for residents of RACFs during the pandemic.

In a collaborative approach with Vic/Tas PHN, medical consulting specialists Medical Business Services have developed 3 individual video modules and resources for General Practice and RACF nurses.  These panel discussion webinars will discuss the modules and resources available to support referral and coordinated care for RACF patients.

Describing the new services for MBS and commissioned services, the panel will consist of Geriatrician, Dr Jesse Zanker, specialist consultants and a local allied health professional.  Learn:

  • Why now? The rationale
  • GP Services
  • Allied health services including group services
  • Mental health services
  • Referral pathways
  • The role of care coordination
  • Opportunities and challenges

PRE-WEBINAR REQUIREMENTS: Participants will be required to view the 3 individual video modules prior to attendance at webinars (total time 1hr).
