Gippsland PHN and Dementia Training Australia are pleased to invite General Practitioners and Primary Health Care professionals to attend this two-part education event.
Dementia is a term used to describe a group of conditions characterised by gradual impairment of brain function, which may impact memory, speech, cognition, personality, behaviour and mobility. Dementia is a significant and growing health and aged care issue. It is the second leading cause of death in Australia, with more than 400,000 Australians living with the illness. This evidence-based program has been designed to improve both confidence in clinical ability and attitudes to dementia care.
Session 1 – describes the stages and domains approach to recognizing dementia in general practice.
Session 2 – will present an overview of dementia and describes a practical approach to support GPs in diagnosing dementia.
