DESCRIPTION:Urological surgeon Mr Phil Dundee will set the scene with an overview of epidemiology and incidence rates of prostate cancer in Australia together with an understanding of the risk factors and prevention strategies and the importance of accurate staging for treatment decisions. Together with radiation oncologist, Dr Mario Guerrieri, they will discuss active surveillance vs intervention and provide an overview of surgical options, radiation therapy and hormone therapy, including side effects or complications. Case studies will be used for context. Learning OutcomesBy the end of this activity, participants will be able to: Outline the different management options for patients with low, intermediate and high-risk prostate cancer.
