COVID-19 Testing in Gippsland

Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing remains one of the best ways to keep people safe and stay open, so anyone in Gippsland with symptoms, no matter how mild, should get tested as soon as possible.

Details of Gippsland’s Respiratory Clinics are below. You can also check the DHHS website for information about testing facilities and exposure sites as well as the current levels of restrictions such as masks and limits on gatherings.

Do I Really Need a Test?

If you have even MILD symptoms you need to be tested without delay.

Symptomatic testing is for people who have symptoms such as fever or chills or a respiratory sickness (e.g. cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose or loss of smell.

Testing is recommended for people with onset of other clinical symptoms consistent with COVID-19: headache, muscle pain, stuffy nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea.

If in doubt, get tested and be sure to isolate until you receive a negative result.

Asymptomatic testing

People who do not have symptoms (asymptomatic) should not be tested except in special circumstances such as recovered cases wishing to return to work in a healthcare facility or aged care facility or when requested by the Department of Health as part of outbreak management or enhanced surveillance. This will usually occur in a hospital, Pop Up Clinic in a retail outlet or in work locations such as schools or an aged care facility.

If in doubt call the Coronavirus Hotline: 1800 675 398.
