Health advice is now available in any language through Healthdirect Australia’s Multicultural Health Connect service.
Multicultural Health Connect is a telephone helpline that people of multicultural backgrounds can call for health information and advice. They will speak to trained and culturally responsive helpline staff who understand access barriers to health care and cultural and religious beliefs impacting on health service use.
The helpline is free and confidential, and run by workers from multicultural backgrounds and can help in many languages or with the help of an interpreter.
Multicultural communities as well as health and community services that work with multicultural communities can also contact the helpline for information and navigation of support to health services.
Free health advice from a nurse is available; you can find doctors, hospitals, support and community health centres near you; learn more about Medicare and how it can support you; and learn about COVID-19 including how to get a vaccination, protect yourself and your family and manage your symptoms if you get COVID-19.
The service is open from 11am-7pm daily. Call 1800 186 815.
