Centring Clients in Binge Eating Disorder Care: Exploring respect, nuance, and common ground

National Eating Disorders Strategy

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is one of the most prevalent eating disorders. Of the estimated 4% of the Australian population with an eating disorder approximately 21% experience BED (1).

Another proportion of those experiencing Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED) experience binge eating. Despite this, BED remains significantly under-researched and misunderstood by both health professionals and the wider community.

Across the program, we will explore nuance, relational approaches, evidence-based interventions, and profession-specific experiences and perspectives.

The series will conclude with a case-based panel discussion to integrate the knowledge and insights gathered over the two weeks
