Join Gippsland PHN and Cathy Jones in this 60-minute webinar on the importance of clinical governance guidance for general practice and other health providers.
This webinar is designed as a practical, plain English session for primary care and community health provider audiences, with an emphasis on why clinical governance matters, what good clinical governance looks like in day-to-day practice, and how organisations can use clinical governance guidance to strengthen safety, quality, risk management and consumer-centred care.
The aims are:
- Explain the purpose and importance of clinical governance guidance for general practice and other health providers.
- Translate clinical governance concepts into practical examples relevant to primary care, community health and other provider settings.
- Clarify the links between clinical governance, safety and quality systems, risk management, incident and feedback systems, consumer participation, clinical standards and continuous improvement.
- Provide participants with practical prompts and questions they can use to assess and strengthen their own governance arrangements.
By the end of the education session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the purpose and importance of clinical governance, linking to a definition of quality
- Describe the key elements of effective clinical governance, including leadership, accountability, safety and quality systems, risk management, consumer engagement and continuous improvement.
- Apply clinical governance concepts to practical examples relevant to day-to-day service delivery
- Identify useful measures and sources of evidence that can help providers monitor clinical governance
Please note, there will be two sessions available on Thursday 25 June 2026, with the same content.
