Join Gippsland PHN for an overview of My Health Record developments, including changes to security and access policy requirements and the transition from previous arrangements under the 2016 My Health Record Rule 42 (2016) toward compliance with Rule 21 (2026). Participants will discuss what these changes mean operationally for practices and how they align with safe access and information sharing.
The session will also introduce 1800MEDICARE and explore how patients are increasingly engaging with digital health services and where general practice fits into that experience.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Describe current My Health Record functionality and recent policy and governance changes relevant to general practice.
- Explain the transition from previous My Health Record security and access policy arrangements from Rule 42 (2016) to Rule 21 (2026) requirements and identify implications for practice workflows.
- Recognise how patients access and engage with digital services including 1800MEDICARE.
- Identify practical actions to support safe information sharing and patient-centred digital care.
- Reflect on opportunities to improve practice readiness and patient communication regarding digital health services.
