The Heart Foundation, in collaboration with the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ), has released the new Australian clinical guideline for diagnosing and managing acute coronary syndromes 2025.
Did you know that each year in Australia, there are over 57,000 acute coronary events among people aged 25 and over, equivalent to one person every nine minutes. Unveiling the first major update in nearly a decade, the new guideline represents and signifies a major critical advance in the care of people experiencing a heart attack or angina in Australia.
Join the Chair, Professor Garry Jennings, and members of the guideline expert steering group as they unpack the latest evidence and recommendations to help you diagnose and treat people with acute coronary syndromes as efficiently, accurately and safely as possible.
One hour of live didactic presentations will be followed by a 30-minute audience Q&A with opportunities to pre-submit questions.
Tune in and discover what’s new in the guideline, including:
– ECG patterns, beyond ST-segment elevation, that can indicate a heart attack and the need for emergency reperfusion.
– New clinical decision pathways incorporating high-sensitivity cardiac troponin.
– Stronger emphasis on the optimal timing of percutaneous coronary intervention.
– Treatment guidance for specific groups, including those with cardiac arrest or SCAD.
– Specific practice information for First Nations peoples, women, older adults and people living in regional and remote areas.
– Detailed guidance on post-discharge care and secondary prevention measures.
