Understanding Gestational Diabetes – Murray PHN

Hosted by Murray PHN and presented by Diabetes Victoria, this webinar will provide a clinical refresher on Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), including an update about new guidelines and diagnostic criteria. The link between certain eating disorders and gestational diabetes will be highlighted, with a focus on implications for clinical practice.

This webinar will also explain how these updates relate to eligibility for the Life! program and outline practical strategies to integrate referrals into clinical workflows, including tools and resources.

The Life! program is a free, evidence-based initiative that supports healthy behaviour change to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, with a tailored Life! after Gestational Diabetes stream for those who have experienced gestational diabetes.

Primary Care Engagement Officer- Diabetes Victoria

Wendy Yeung is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and the Primary Care Engagement Officer for the Life! program at Diabetes Victoria. She brings extensive experience as a dietitian, having worked across diverse primary care settings including private practice and community health.

Wendy’s clinical expertise spans chronic disease management (including diabetes care) and eating disorder management. In her role with Diabetes Victoria, she supports Victorian primary care health professionals to understand how the Life! program can help patients reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and stroke, and guides them on how to refer patients into the program.
