About this Session
This strength-based, evidence informed workshop increases understanding of body image and the modifiable risk and protective factors that contribute to body dissatisfaction, disordered eating, and eating disorders in young people.
The session provides up to date, comprehensive information and guidance for schools and other youth settings on supporting young people’s body image, and how to identify and approach a young person if concerned.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Explain how body image develops and why it matters for wellbeing and learning
- Identify key risk and protective factors that influence body image and disordered eating
- Apply evidence informed strategies to foster positive and inclusive environments
- Recognise early warning signs that may indicate a young person is at risk
- Respond to concerns appropriately
- Access high quality resources to support prevention and early identification.
