Join Gippsland PHN for an educational session “The role of primary care practitioners in MND care and support networks available to Gippsland practitioners.”
The session will include the essential and important General Practice role in MND care, highlight patient and carer needs informed by people with lived experience and literature review, and provide information on supports available to practitioners, with a focus on lived experience, case study, and the unique challenges and resilience of rural and regional care provision by health professionals. Insights from carers enables an increased understanding for health professionals to the challenges an MND diagnosis and journey brings. This webinar is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of health professionals working within the primary health sector in understanding MND and the systems that are available to support patients.
Primary health practitioners are integral to delivering care in their communities, whether it’s navigating the palliative care system, managing symptoms, prescribing appropriate medications, or making critical care decisions, a collaborative approach with specialist services enhances patient outcomes. This webinar aims to provide practical knowledge and tools to support primary care providers in delivering high-quality information to patients with MND to support the journey with this disease. This session is suitable for all health practitioners working in the primary health and aged care sector, with a particular focus on general practitioners, practice nurses, aged care teams and allied health professionals.
