Join Heart Foundation and an expert panel featuring international keynote speaker Dr Christopher Labos, alongside Australian specialists, focusing on the field of cardiology that are re-defining clinical practice.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the top cause of death globally, with smoking, vaping, infections, stress, caffeine, and sleep habits all playing major roles in increasing risk. Young people are particularly affected by the harms of smoking and vaping. Infections such as influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 heighten cardiac event risk in vulnerable groups, underscoring the importance of vaccination and healthy living. Chronic stress and poor sleep worsen heart health, while moderate coffee intake may be beneficial, but too much or unfiltered coffee can be harmful.
This educational session will address how stress, sleep, caffeine, smoking and vaping, and respiratory infections shape cardiovascular risk. The expert speakers will highlight the importance of early cardiovascular risk assessment, prevention strategies such as stress management, healthy sleep, smoking cessation, and vaccination, and provide practical tools for managing CVD risk in primary healthcare.
The program features one hour of live presentations and a 30-minute Q&A, focusing on evidence-based guidance and interactive discussion.
