New community grants available to build palliative care awareness

Community organisations, health services and local groups are encouraged to apply for a new round of grants aimed at increasing community understanding of palliative care and the importance of advance care planning.

Gippsland Primary Health Network (PHN) is inviting expressions of interest for one of 10 grants valued at $2,000 to support events and activities that help people learn more about palliative care, how to plan ahead and how to access services in their community.

The grants are funded under the Australian Government’s Greater Choice for At Home Palliative Care initiative and empower local organisations to host sessions, distribute information and engage communities in meaningful conversations about future care needs.

Grant funding can be used for costs associated with delivering awareness activities including:

  • Engaging expert speakers
  • Preparing educational materials
  • Promotion and advertising
  • Venue hire
  • Catering

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a community group, health service or organisation located in Gippsland
  • Deliver activities that benefit Gippsland communities
  • Provide a brief outline of their proposed initiative, including topic, speakers, resources, promotional plans and target audience

Applicants are encouraged to include information about proposed speakers, peak bodies, resources, promotion plans and target audiences.

Gippsland PHN may also assist by providing suggested peak bodies and resources to support organisations with planning.
