You may have noticed your My Health Record app is now called 1800MEDICARE. Although the name has changed, you still have the same secure access to your My Health Record information, with new features and more ways to connect with care.
Your existing health information remains the same. Anything uploaded to your My Health Record – including hospital discharge summaries, pathology results, immunisation history and shared health summaries – is still there.
You can still use the app to:
- View your health information
- Manage electronic prescriptions
- Check your Active Script List (ASL)
- View immunisation history
- Manage your privacy and access settings
Parents, carers and authorised representatives can still access the health records they are permitted to manage.
The app continues to connect securely to the national My Health Record system and operates under Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 and the My Health Records Act 2012.
Your login details, and privacy and security settings have not changed. You remain in control of who can access your information at all times. The app also uses device authentication processes like a PIN or biometrics for added protection.
Why the new name?
The change is part of the Australian Government’s 1800MEDICARE initiative, which makes it easier for Australians to access primary health care advice and support. Bringing the app under the 1800MEDICARE banner signals that this digital tool is part of a wider system, designed to help you connect with care.
Get the new 1800MEDICARE app
The My Health Record app on your device may have updated automatically. If it hasn’t, you can search for ‘1800MEDICARE’ in your app store (App Store or Play Store) and update it manually.
It will appear in your app store as ‘1800MEDICARE (was My Health Record)’. If you don’t update it straight away, the app will still work — you just may not receive future improvements.
