Learning objectives
Topic 1: a.) Identify patients at high-risk of pancreatic cancer, and b.) explain treatment pathways that patients with pancreatic cancer may undergo.
Topic 2: Outline the role of GPs in supporting patients through and beyond a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
Topic 3: a.) Identify signs of long-term PPI use and b.) explain appropriate management in the primary care setting.
Topic 4: Explain pancreatic enzyme insufficiency, its causes/contributing factors and best practice management in primary care.
Topic 5: Discuss the brain-gut interaction and how to approach conversations with patients around this relationship and the potential implications on their health and other diagnoses.
Topic 6: a.) Identify modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors associated with bowel cancer in young people, and b.) explain when patients should be referred for further testing.
Topic 7: Identify preventative factors, warning signs and indicators of liver injury.
Topic 8: a.) Summarise causes of intestinal metaplasia and Barrett’s oesophagus; and b.) describe appropriate management in primary care.
Topic 9: a) Explain the presentation of Crohn’s disease and diagnostic pathways; and b) Discuss implications of unmanaged Crohn’s disease on future health.
