The Australian Primary Health Nurse Association’s Nurse Transition to Primary Care program is for ‘Transitioning Nurses’, recently graduated nurses or experienced nurses who have moved into an unfamiliar primary health care setting.

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has identified the need to ensure that nursing staff are upskilled to respond to the ever-increasing demand on clinical services with general practices
Nurses in general practice work across all fields of general medicine, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, Adolescent and Child Health, Aged Care and Chronic Disease. Strengthening nursing skills for nurses new to working in general practice will positively impact the healthcare workforce into the future and support current workforce skills.
Gippsland PHN is now offering a to five nurses currently working in Gippsland (minimum two days a week) to complete the Nurse Transition to Primary Care program. For further information please see the Application Guidance (attached).
