Gippsland Primary Health Network (Gippsland PHN) has released a public tender to commission the new Medicare Mental Health Centre in Sale.
Funded by the Australian Government, the new centre is expected to open in the first half of 2027 and will strengthen access to free mental health care and support for people across the Wellington local government area and surrounding communities.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre will provide a welcoming, community-based service offering immediate and short to medium-term mental health treatment and support for people experiencing distress and moderate to severe mental health challenges.
Designed to make support easier to access, the centre will provide free mental health information, services and support without the need for a referral, appointment or Medicare card. Families, carers and support people will also be able to access assistance and information.
