Gippsland PHN is providing funding for 12 Practice Nurses working in General Practice and Bush Nursing Centres in Gippsland to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training delivered by the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA).
General Practices and Bush Nursing Centres are welcomed to nominate a Practice Nurse to submit an expression of interest for this online training.
Successful applicants will receive training in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), tailored specifically to meet the needs of Practice Nurses in Gippsland delivered at no cost to participants.

The training will be delivered over 2 online sessions of 2.5 hours duration per session on
Wednesday 4 December 12.30-3.00pm
Friday 6 December 12.30-3.00pm
Benefits of Participating
Participating Practice Nurses will benefit from the following expected outcomes of the training:
• To support general practice nurses with improving timely identification and initial response strategies for patients living with Mental health concerns in regional Victoria.
• Defined strategies for use in general practice through timely identification of patients living with Mental health concerns.
• Optimised ability to identify relevant resources to support the identification of where those experiencing Mental health concerns can seek professional help.
• Increased ability to identify crisis situations and understand evidence-based strategies for supporting clients presenting with Mental health concerns in general practice.
Please note – only one Practice Nurse from a General Practice and/or Bush Nursing Centre within Gippsland is permitted to apply, this is due to limited funded place availability.
